Kasandra just emailed me the pictures of the damage. The damage is to the hood and truck bed. Not damage that a driver would be unaware of or an Alamo check in person might miss. She included a picture of the speedometer showing the tank was returned empty. I had filled up the tank right before returning the vehicle. Alamo has asked that I file a claim with my insurance company and to give them the claim number. I have refused.
Protect yourself with videos at the time of return. Video the Alamo representative checking the vehicle in. Photograph the speedometer.
This location tries an old scam. I rented a vehicle from Alamo West Palm Beach Airport on August 19 and returned it on August 22. I heard nothing for 2 months.
I had a great experience alamo. We rented a minivan for a trip to Orlando. The staff was friendly, helpful and the car was clean and ready to go. It made for a comfortable ride instead of our Jeep with mud tires.
Almost always the best rates. Sometimes a bit short on cars in class I reserved, but I attribute that most times to Alamo's popularity, although I would imagine sometimes it may be poor planning, but I have always been accommodated with a car a class or 2 higher when this happened. Most personnel are friendly, helpful and courteous. I recommend Alamo to friends and family.
Rented a car at Alamo's Palm Beach Airport location for a one way trip to NY. The Alamo team has evidently upped the ante with regard to service. This must have been the most professional, accommodating and polite car rental staff I've ever encountered. One person was more pleasant than the next. This has to be a reflection on the present day Alamo Management Team. I say this because the same is true for when I returned the car the JFK location. Great experience all in all.
On October 18 I got a call from Alamo claiming that the vehicle was "missing a part" when I returned it. Although it was only recently discovered, it was my responsibility because the vehicle had not been rented since I returned it . I explained that the vehicle was checked in and there was no problem.
I just received a follow up demand letter and spoke with Kasandra at Alamo recovery who said that damage was discovered while the vehicle was being readied for sale 2 months after I had rented it. It was my responsibility. The Alamo branch manager had authorized the recovery action.
I had a great experience with Alamo. They gave me the best price for renting a car for almost two weeks. The car was everything I expected and more. Only 14,000 miles on the odometer. Drove beautifully, AC worked well. No problems. Also easy pick up and delivery!
This is an old scam that was prevalent with rental car companies several years ago but was stopped after threats of a class action. It apparently is back at this Alamo location and being supported by Alamo corporate.
Or better yet find an honest location.
