Ive been going to dr.j with my pets since 1998 always helpful,he's an awesome veterinarian always available to listen to any concerns.i recently moved to orlando but will travel to wpb for any of my pets needs

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE.....this place is responsible for the death of my dog. Let me break it down for you.... I come home from vaca and my dog has a slight limp... didn't think too much of it, a day or two passes and now the limp had gotten worse, ok better go get this looked at. I take him to this vet because it's slightly more affordable than other vets(big mistake)!! I take him in and they wanna do X-rays and blood work, ok great! I drop him off for a few hours and would just come back.....well when I get back, my dog is locked in the back and they wouldn't let me see him, meanwhile the actual vet himself is sitting behind the counter in a chair SLEEPING....literally sleeping, even the vet tech was trying to ask questions and get him up, even hearing her say "aww taking a lil nap huh" maybe thinking it was cute. Well I didn't find it cute. Finally after waking him up and complaining about wanting to see my dog, another vet tech walks me back....only to find him laying on the cold floor unconscious in a puddle of his own urine!! At this point I'm pissed. We leave and I was told to come back the following day for blood and X-ray results. The next day I come back trying to get some news about my dog only to have to wait 2 hours in the lobby and numerously asking the tech behind the counter when I can speak to someone. Finally the vet speaks with me and tells me his blood work is fine and nothing is wrong. I had to ask about the X-rays and look myself for anythjng wrong. But of course I don't know what I'm looking at. He claims it could be just a sprain and gives me some pain pills. I had so many questions and he had ZERO answers. A day or two goes by and he seems to be getting worse. His limp is now in both hind legs and I need a second opinion. He's whining and limping and something is seriously wrong. I take him to another vet( a real vet) and have the X-rays and blood work transferred over.....by now my dog is crying like crazy, loopy and unanware of what's going on, pretty much paralyzed on his hind legs and cannot walk. Within 5-10 min of being there and reading the results of the bloodwork, the vet immediately realizes what's wrong and the severity of the situation. A canine desease that should be known by any vet if he actually knew what he was looking for and how to read bloodwork. Certain levels were off the charts. Within 10-15 min this vet knew and explained what was wrong, had a notebook in my hand showing me and explaining exactly what was happening.... but by then it was too late. 4-5-6 days have passed and by now he needed 24 hour emergency care and even then the vet said it may not help.....I take my dog in for a second opinion and within a few hours he's not himself. 106 fever, having seizures, and both legs are immobile. My dog was in sooo much pain and near death that it was the vets recommendation that we put him down. I laid over him crying my eyes out telling him how sorry I was, if I had just taken him anywhere but that first vet he may be alive and could have treated him sooner. I laid over my Great Dane as he howled and cried and seized with 106 fever and staring into the distant with a look I've never seen before. I laid with him as he took his last breath. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. It was his 6th birthday that day! I cried for weeks. I'm getting choked up now. Please people...don't make the mistake I did. Do your research and don't take your animal to a vet bc it's cheaper than others. They are your family!! I had to learn my lesson the hard way.

Great place staff is always friendly, caring and helpful. Affordable in the tightest situations

I made an appointment there to get a chip put into my dog in his first round of shots. I found the male nurse to be very helpful and cheerful even joking around with my son. The only downfall that I saw was that evidently they had too many dog visits at the same time and the vet didn't really have much time to sit and talk to me. I felt as if he was just trying to brush off anything that I had to say. I felt like to him it was clearly a paycheck and he didn't have much interest in getting to know our dog. I'm not sure if I'll be back
